Good Game Australia & New Zealand Wants You!

Good Game Australia and New Zealand is looking for people who can contribute to our content and competitive teams. Before applying, please read and make sure you agree with the Mission Statement below, and it's a good idea to have had a gander at the 'About Us' and 'Staff' pages (see the links on the footer). After reading the Mission Statement, look at which positions are currently open, and then use the link in the positions open text to contact Good Game Australia and New Zealand's Admin.

Positions Open

  • Competitive - tourney and event organisers
    • GG's on the search for the right people to expand the range of gaming titles we hold competitions and events in to other games. These include (but are not limited to - if you've got something in mind, let us know) FIFA, NBA & Tekken. If you're active, passionate & interested in developing tourneys and events in a specific title on GG then we'd love to hear from you

Good Game Australia & New Zealand Mission Statement

  • Core
    • To provide an open & welcoming, tolerant and respectful community hub with a wealth of up-to-date Au/NZ-centric news & events.
    • Maintain GG as a site for all gamers and (while it's got a PS3 focus) all platforms. Different types of gamers, and gamers on different platforms, are not lesser creatures.
    • Maintain GG as a not-for-profit or personal gain venture.
    • All proceeds made by GG go back into the community - be that better services via the website or through prizes for free to enter, non-exclusive events.
    • To bring the broader gaming community together, and bring new gamers to the broader gaming community. Where possible, GG is to work with other sites to enrich the community as a whole, promoting events both from GG and other ANZ sites. This includes generally (but not always) running events that are distinctly different from those offered at other sites (either in rulesets, community vibe/lack of entry fees, or just different games altogether).
  • Content Team
    • To engage, grow & enlighten the community to what is hot in AU/NZ gaming through the presentation of interesting & relevant information. Members of the Content Team will be assigned light workloads in dedicated areas for which they are responsible for. Any one who is feeling the pressure or just needs another pair of hands needs only ask.
    • The content team is directly responsible for:
      • Homepage articles and news feeds/blogs, including posting pasting (with minor editing as appropriate, and adding an image to the post) quality forum posts to the relevant blog (tips to tips, news/game preview vid to news, game results to tourney and events).
      • Selecting quality community reviews and converting into articles.
      • Maintaining the GG Youtube channel.
      • Liasing with other gaming sites to gather relevant news.
      • Sorting information for SITREP, the GG Newsletter.
      • Promotion of any upcoming GG Events.
  • Competitive Team
    • To encourage, motivate & assit the community in being active & participating in GG Events, while ensuring ALL members receive a 'fair go'. It is paramount to GG's success that the Comp Team always maintain a presence of being approachable by the members & that any rulings they make are 100% fair & by the rules in place.
    • Members of the Comp Team will strive to ensure there are always Events either occuring or upcoming on GG, which cater to the members desires, while not direclty conflicting with anything pre-existing elsewhere.
    • Moderator Team
      • To promote an active & positive community, while ensuring formal discussions are kept on-topic & members don't cross the line when it comes to respecting one another.
      • The role of the moderator is like that of a Police Officer. They are to serve the community in being helpful & approachable, but also capable of issuing punishment should people not respect boundaries as a last resort.
      • Basic Guidelines:
        • When a member is being unruly, first try & communicate to them that their actions aren't acceptable. Edit their posts & PM them if necessary. If their poor behaviour persists then issue formal warning points.
        • Always try to be helpful. If someone has a question & you don't know how to respond, respond by saying you're referring it to someone else. Remember the more likeable you are, the more people will want to socialise & participate here.
        • Stick to the default warning system to maintain consistency when dealing with members. If you find they've done something unacceptable but there is no warning already setup, then post it here & we'll add it.
        • Always support one another. If you find you have a disagreement with another staff member take it up with them via personal message, the chat bar or express your feelings in the staff section. Never express your issues on the open forum as this will lead to conflict.
        • Check your personal differences with other members at the door. If you have ongoing personal issues with a member then ignore them, avoid them & just plain don't respond to them. We have other moderators who will step in & take control.
